  1. My own children did not have access to trivium in their inner city Portsmouth state schools. They were at a disadvantage and therefore this work in state schools would constitute a progressive approach ( I’m sure my tminology may be wrong but I was state educated too). The trivium was a central part of Ursuline educational philosophy as discussed at their first global conference in 2015. The schools are privately funded internationally but state funded in uk. For us as Ursuline school leaders the challenge is to empower, particularly girls. But they need a solid body of knowledge if they are to face all of the future unknowns. The Ursulines talked particularly of the thread of developing a place for girls and women from the 15th century onwards.
